ABSTRACT :
This review focuses on how the study of anatomy in ancient world has evolved through the civilizations. Anatomical knowledge in ancient world and especially in Greece and Arab was derived principally from animal dissection, chance observations of improperly buried human bodies, bodies of criminals executed, and examinations of patients made by doctors during treatment. The Greek and Arab anatomist form the basis of the traditional treatments and surgery for ages. Several Greek, Arab and Indian anatomist contributed a lot to the medical science. History of human anatomy and its scholars are discussed here briefly and an attempt is made to elaborate the contribution of Unani scholars in Anatomy Here we review the anatomical knowledge and approach of them.
